Third place at Sebring was a solid end to the 2020 part of this season of the NEO Endurance 24h series. Now, the 6 Hours of Silverstone was on the horizon with Anders Dahl and Simeon Lynch behind the wheel.
From third on the grid, Anders had a very clean start, however, he got pushed wide on the exit on turn 4, and dropped two positions. Despite feeling physically unwell, he was soon back up to third and were hunting down the two competitors ahead.
After just 30 minutes of racing, Anders had caught the leader and with a monster of an exit on the hangar straight, he took the lead by going around the outside in Stowe corner. Absolutely stunning move by the dane! He handed the car over to Simeon and a the halfway point of the race, we were still in the lead and in a very close battle to keep it.
That fight kept on going for almost to the chequered flag, but we just fell short and crossed the line in second place.
A brilliant performance which gives good hopes for the next round at Monza. Let’s hear from Simeon about the race:
“Very happy with P2, Anders did an amazing job to do the first stints whilst feeling pretty under the weather. After that we challenged for the lead towards the end however experience showed as the eventual winners managed to save their tyres in the final hour. Looking forward to Monza”
The could see it, they could smell it, maybe they will taste the champagne at the top step of the podium on the 14th of February for round 4.
