Our rFactor 2 team is very busy at this time and in the weekend the brand new GT3 Endurance series by Simracing.club, who also is the organizer of the Virtual Endurance Championship started at Silverstone.
Michi Hoyer and Dawid Mroczek represented Burst Esport in our Callaway Corvette GT3, and what a start to the series that had!
The qualifying session was handled by the german who put in a lap time that gave them P3 as the starting position.
3 hours of racing went underway and Michi really had his head down, and very early on, he went up to P2 and was putting pressure on the leader. Less than half an hour into the race, the leader had a technical issue while Michi was just behind them and we took the lead.
From there and onwards, the FSR race winner and GT Challenge champion didn’t look back and build up a few seconds lead to the competition behind.
At the first pitstop, Dawid got behind the wheel and started what was a masterclass drive! He was unmatched on pure pace and despite some light drizzle of rain at the very end, Dawid and Michi with an amazing team performance brought Burst Esport to the top step of the podium in round 1 of the GT3 Endurance Series.
Here’s a comment from both Michi and Dawid after an amazing race.
Michi:
“Winning the first race in a brand new series is always something special. We had great performance and also profited from some racing incidents which helped us running away at the front. Dawid did an awesome job in the 2nd and 3rd stint and I am super proud of both of us. Winning the race in a strong field like this is special and we now look forward to the rest of the season”
Dawid:
“I am absolutely delighted that we won this race. Everything went just perfect. Michi made a great start, showed some brilliant situation awareness and handed over the car to me when we were already in the lead. I was able to bring it home in P1 despite some serious pressure from 1Aco and R8G.
We didn’t expect to win this race – our target was to just finish on the podium, so a race victory was amazing. Pace and consistency were at a very good level this weekend, but we haven’t reached our full potential yet. A special thank you to Michi and Jernej for giving me some key advice during my stints.
Next rounds are going to be very interesting and competitive, but this result gives us a massive boost of hope and optimism.”
Round 2 of GT3 Endurance takes place at the green hell, Nürburgring Nordschleife, on the 28th of November.
